Dec. 14th, 2022, with the hydraulic jet excavator gradually emerging to the sea surface, Jidong Nanpu 1-29 Gas Storage Pilot Test Ground Engineering Injection Acquisition and Gathering Pipeline Project Lay Barge Construction Project offshore pipeline post-trenching was successfully completed.

In order to protect the submarine pipeline, it is generally necessary to excavate and bury them. Submarine pipeline post-trenching is to lay the submarine pipeline according to the predetermined route, and ride across the pipeline to trench by using specially designed excavator. High-pressure hydraulic jetting is carried out by using large flow water pump to scour the seabed, break and discharge the sediment at the bottom of pipe. With the advance of excavator, pipeline sinks into the trench bottom, which plays the role of submarine pipeline fixing and protecting.

During the post-trenching process, the weather became colder, the temperature dropped sharply, and the sea began to enter the glacial period. The construction in cold wind and sea ice environment is undoubtedly another severe test for project team, but it also becomes an opportunity to prove Timeast technical strength. In face of these challenges, Jidong project team formulated a cooperation plan for upcoming ice conditions, reasonably arranged construction plan, actively coordinated all parties’ resources, carefully deployed construction process, and finally completed offshore pipeline post- trenching operation with high efficiency and high standards.

Main Construction Lay Barge TIAN YI 601

The smooth implementation of post-trenching has effectively improved Timeast technical capacity in trenching engineering, and accumulated practical experience for subsequent similar projects. So far, main construction lay barge TIAN YI 601 has successfully completed all project tasks: 3.7km, 300kg high-pressure offshore pipeline laying; riser and expansion bend installation at the side of No.1 island; offshore pipeline horizontal ends tie-in and post-trenching. It marked a successful end to the completion of Jidong Nanpu 1-29 Gas Storage Pilot Test Ground Engineering Injection Acquisition and Gathering Pipeline Project Lay Barge Construction Project.
